We are excited to announce the publication of a brand-new informational leaflet: “Accessing Healthcare in the UK for Students and Their Families”, created to help Malaysian students and their dependants navigate the UK’s healthcare system with confidence.

This collaborative effort brings together Malaysian Doctors for Women & Children, Mercy Humanitarian UK, UKEC (United Kingdom & Eire Council for Malaysian Students), and Demokratik UKE, combining medical expertise, student experience, and community support to produce a resource that’s practical, accessible, and empowering.

Moving to a new country comes with many challenges; and understanding how to get medical help when you or your family need it can be one of the biggest. From registering with a GP to understanding NHS entitlements, emergency care, and services for dependants, this leaflet offers clear guidance tailored to the Malaysian student community in the UK.

It aims to ensure that every student and family knows:

  • How to register for NHS services
  • What to do in urgent or emergency situations
  • How to access women’s and children’s health support
  • Where to find mental health and wellbeing resources
  • And much more; all written in simple, friendly language.

Translations of this leaflet into Malay and Mandarin languages will follow suit. Stay tuned!
